We use the Mac Screen Capture tool almost daily. It makes it very easy to take a quick snapshot of a comp, snippet, or site to be able to send to clients, use for project examples, etc.

With our clients who use Macs and need to upload photos to their site, we recommend using screen capture to prepare their photos for their websites. The reason being is that most of the time those photos are coming from a digital camera and the file size is way too large for the web. Taking a screenshot of the file is a quick and easy way to save a smaller version of that photo to your desktop without needing any fancy programs like Photoshop.

As we wrote a little bit ago, clients should own their own domain names. However, what happens if someone else has control of your URL? No need to panic. The process is fairly simple to transfer the domain name into your own account.

We were proud sponsors of the Elevation Celebration hosted by Mikayla’s Voice at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, PA this past weekend. Mikayla’s Voice is a non-profit organization promoting the message of inclusion for children everywhere.

Change is a good thing. Technology brings us advances constantly which help make our lives easier. Apple recently released its latest operating system called OS X Lion. Honestly, it was something that I was pretty excited for. After watching the 2011 Keynote which featured exciting additions to the Mac OS as well as additions to iOS 5 for mobile, I have been pretty anxious to get those additions installed on my devices. When July 20th rolled around and Apple updated its website with the release of Mac OS X Lion, I jumped right in and started upgrading.

Did you know that we run a small, small, small (did I mention small) clothing line? It is purely for fun and to get some extra creativity out there. We started it during college and have just been too nostalgic to let it go.

The Test Your Metal 2011 CrossFit Competition is now over and the soreness is setting in. The event was a great success, bringing in around 60 contestants from different parts of the tri-state area. We had a great time working on the branding for the event as well as participating.

In early 2010, author Ken Bluttman emailed us asking if he could use our site as an example in an upcoming book called Brilliant Web Design that he was working on with author Joe Kraynak. We responded with an excited ‘Yes.’

Every year we’re excited to see the results of Lehigh Valley Magazines Best of the Valley, a yearly community voted event for many categories in business. We’re always proud to see a nice handful of our clients in the line up year after year, and this year is no exception.

Usability should be a main priority when developing a website. How quickly a user can move from page to page to find what they’re looking for, can be the difference between a user staying on your website, or leaving for another. One item that can be helpful is to have your website navigation auto highlight the page link that a user is currently on.

Our very own CrossFit Advanced is hosting a CrossFit Competition at this years Lehigh Valley Sportsfest which is held in Allentown, PA July 14th through the 17th. Sportsfest hosts many different athletic events from Flag Football to Horseshoes to Ultimate Frisbee. This year is the first year that CrossFit will be at Sportsfest with a competition coined ‘Test Your Metal’ which has the spiffy logo put together by your friends here at J Taylor Design. If you haven’t heard or know much about CrossFit, this will be a good excuse to get some fresh air and watch some friendly competition between the CrossFit athletes.
