Leica Q3 - 3 Months Later

With 12 sessions under our belt using the Leica Q3, we felt it was time to share our quick thoughts on this camera. This is not a proper review, rather a look at how we have used the Leica Q3 for the past 3 months for client work. Used for environmental portraits, candids, and more, we used this camera on shoots when the 28mm lens makes sense. While it is not a perfect camera, there are so many things to like about the Leica Q3 if the lens fits the need.

Things We Like About the Leica Q3

• Size
• Image & Build Quality
• Manual focus is smooth, just like m-mount lenses
• Quiet shutter

Room For Improvement

• Slow startup - especially compared to the Leica SL2
• Similar to SL2, the viewfinder looks better than the back of the screen
• We have had a few system freeze issues where the only solution is to remove the battery

Hopefully we will see future firmware updates address some of the issues, but the Leica Q3 certainly lives up to the hype.
